Canoeing Courses

Trent Lock Scout Activity Centre

Canoeing for Beginners & Improvers
Thursday Evenings in June & July 2007

Have you ever sat and played in a canoe and thought “This is fun; I’d like to do more of this?” Well, now’s your chance. The Canoeing Team at the Trent Lock Scout Activity Centre are running a 6-week Wednesday Evening course for beginners and improvers.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

For Beginners - Learn to paddle a kayak and have a lot of fun; safety; have a go in several different types of canoe; play games; get wet sometimes. At the end of it, if you wish, you can take the BCU one-star test.

For Improvers - if you already have one-star or two-star skill level and would wish to learn more - like how to make the boat do exactly what you want it to do, and just what it wants to do - then this is the course for you! It is a big step up to 2-star or 3-star and usually more than can be done in 6 weeks but if you are up to it by then you can do the test.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

The charge for the course will be £25, which includes use of all the equipment and the cost of the testing. (Badges and Certificates from the British Canoe Union cost £3).

HOW DO I BOOK?

Telephone or e-mail Anna Clapham. Spaces are limited so get your booking in early. We will send a full information pack to all those on the course.
